Surf History

I watched some YouTube videos of Larry Bertleman this morning. I remember him being the first surf pro being sponsored by big corp entities. 74′ was my first year in Hawaii and he won the Duke that year. He surfed Sunset like it was never surfed before. Instead of taking off, fading off the bottom turn and doing a top turn,he would do 2 or 3 top S turns and then crank a huge cutback into a bottom turn. He was surfing Sunset like a 2′ day at Pupakea! He was also a big influence in skateboarding at the time the Z-Boys were blowing up. If you get a chance look him up on YouTube!
